Art by Joseph Tenney
Artist Statement:
I hope to effectively portray any given narration or instruction in my sequential illustration. As well I hope to effectively utilize my complete pallet of techniques and continue to add to my repertoire of techniques. I am anxious to expand my portfolio of both printed and electronically published work. I feel like the stories among the people of this world are as innumerable as the stars and I have within me the ability to represent each one that is given to me in my sequential art and I hope to do so. I also hope to cultivate my interpersonal talents with more attention so that I can form greater collaborative bonds.
I feel like art has become somewhat secular, an erroneous thought. Everyone is well capable of creating humanistic expressions, the bones and dirt that is art. Sequential art being my favored vein of expression, I hope to open its doors to everyone. As well as professional growth in my art I also hope to enrich my understanding of my visual expression in my mark making, the true depth of my composition and the realization of my subject matter. I anticipate engaging in more ‘model’ drawing, with a gear in place for inversion. This meaning I will examine my thoughts in process and ‘moment’. Look at my portfolio I have been reminded of the sparks the younger artist made and hope to break my rigidity exploring old techniques and mediums, hoping to find my sure footsteps there in. -J.Tenney
